Improving an existing Shopify store through functional fixes, e-commerce UX, responsive development and performance optimization.
Manjula Essentials approached our team initially to resolve functional issues affecting their existing Shopify website.
The website had several broken sections and inconsistent experiences across mobile and desktop. What started as a focused improvement project developed into a broader collaboration covering e-commerce UX, page structure, Shopify development and website performance optimization.
Working closely with the client, I helped identify the issues, define improvements and coordinate the technical team to deliver a more reliable and user-friendly e-commerce experience.

- Duration :2 Months
The Challenge
The existing website had several functional and usability issues that were affecting the overall customer experience.
The main challenges included:
- Broken pages and sections across the website
- Inconsistent experiences between mobile and desktop
- Issues affecting the overall functionality of the store
- Product and homepage sections requiring better structure
- Website performance and speed concerns
The first priority was to understand the issues across different parts of the website and resolve them systematically rather than treating each problem as an isolated fix.
My Role
Project Manager / Technical Delivery
I worked directly with the client and coordinated with the technical development team throughout the engagement.
My responsibilities included:
- Direct communication with the client through multiple calls
- Understanding business and website requirements
- Identifying functional issues across the existing website
- Providing guidance on website structure and user experience
- Defining requirements with the development team
- Coordinating Shopify development and implementation
- Managing homepage and product-page improvements
- Coordinating responsive improvements across mobile and desktop
- Supporting performance and speed optimization
- Managing ongoing communication and further improvement requirements
Our Strategies
From Website Fixes to E-Commerce Improvement
The engagement initially focused on resolving functional issues.
As the client became more comfortable with our support and guidance, the project expanded into broader discussions around how customers should experience the website.
We worked with the client to define:
Homepage Structure
Determining which sections should appear on the homepage, how they should be arranged and how they could better present the brand and products.
Product Page Experience
Discussing how product information should be structured and presented to make the product pages easier for customers to understand.
Responsive Experience
Considering how sections should behave across mobile and desktop, including appropriate section sizing and layout.
Customer Journey
Looking at how customers move through the website and how content and product sections can support discovery and engagement.
The client’s designer created the visual designs, while I worked with the technical development team to translate those designs into the Shopify implementation.
Shopify Development
The website was built on Shopify, with the development team working on multiple areas of the store.
Key areas included:
- Mobile and desktop optimization
- Product detail pages
- Homepage development
- Cross-device responsiveness
- Functional improvements
The objective was not simply to reproduce the designs, but to make sure the resulting experience was functional, responsive and manageable for the client.
Performance Optimization
During the project, website speed also became an important area of focus.
The existing website was performing poorly from a speed perspective, so we worked on performance optimization as part of the broader improvement process.
This allowed the project to move beyond functional fixes and address the overall quality of the e-commerce experience.
Client Collaboration
A key part of the project was the continuous communication with the client.
I was involved in multiple discussions to understand their requirements, explain possible approaches and provide guidance on how different sections could work for customers.
The collaboration gradually expanded from resolving immediate technical issues to supporting decisions around:
Structure → UX → Design → Development → Performance → Ongoing Support
The client was pleased with the service, guidance and support provided, and the relationship continued with further website work.

The project successfully improved the existing Shopify experience across several important areas.

- Improved mobile and desktop experiences
